Go Go Girl

My blog seems to be turning into a people watching diary more than a log of events in my life.

Jenny and I were at Payton’s Roundhouse on Saturday night, then Yorkville Hometown Day’s on Sunday night watching Redwoody and Hi Infidelity.  On Saturday we could not keep our eyes off this women dancing by herself.  You could tell that the whole place was watching and kind of wondering at the same time.  It was almost like she practiced a routine before coming to Payton’s.

Then, she was at Yorkville Hometown Days... performing the same routine!  WTF!

I had to put her in my blog...  The Go Go Girl.  Congratulations sweety, you made the internet.

Venetian Night

This weekend was Venetian Night in Chicago.  It was a very nice night in the city.  The parade of decorated boats and the fireworks were excellent.

Ben, Stephanie, Carrie, Jenny, and I ate at the now closed Bennigan’s on Michigan Ave before heading to the lake.

The people-watching at these events is great!  One man sitting in front of us was grilling his chicken and shrimp and went nuts after someone complained that his grill and chicken stunk.  He was not happy.  Fortunately his alcohol-fueled brutality didn’t spill over into the crowd.  He walked it off.

Windy City Rockers and Beantown Boppers

The Drake family (Carole and John), and Jenny and I saw Styx and Boston at Northerly Island... a great place to see a show!

Tommy Shaw is a great performer.  This was my first time seeing Styx and I hope it will not be my last.  I really enjoyed those guys live... who needs Dennis anyway!

Boston is still a rockin’ band too.  The story about their new lead singer and his rise to glory is quite exciting.

You can read about both bands here:

Made In America

This past weekend Stephanie, Ben, Jenny, and I went to Summerfest in Milwaukee... the largest music festival in the world!

And leave it to Wisconsin to produce Old Milwaukee beer, deep fried cheese, and women who dress like this.  This chick pulled out her patriotic red, white, and blue jeans from 1982.  Her friends probably told her they would look great with her sequined American flag shirt.  Classic!

Fortunately for everyone at Summerfest I sent this picture to the large LCD screen next to the hard rock stage so that everyone could experience patriotism the Wisconsin way!

Happy 4th!

A Summer Engagement

Today was finally the day that I proposed to my beautiful girlfriend.

It probably would have happened sooner, but I had to spend some time making a ring box.  (Thanks to John for the beautiful cherry)

Now the planning begins...

Ribbit

Every Wednesday is Lantern day for John, Mo, and I.  The Lantern has some of the best burgers in the area.  Tina is our favorite waitress!  She lets us write our own tickets.

This year’s statue theme in Naperville must be frogs, as seen here.  So, on the way back to the parking garage from the Lantern, Mo felt like taking a seat in one of their laps.

The Good Old Days

When I was young I played in a band... Cornucopia... named after the Black Sabbath song on the backside of Vol 4.  The backside?  Yes, this refers to when albums had a side 1 and side 2... vinyl, cassettes.  (Not that I would know.  I grew up in the digital age.)

I have not picked up a guitar in about 5 years.  After playing with such talented people for so long, cranking the guitar by myself in the spare bedroom of the townhouse just doesn’t do it for me anymore.  Fortunately I still have my guitars and the Marshall half-stack.  I’m saving them for the reunion tour.

Attached is a song from our Pathways album.  It’s called Crying Out to Myself.  Enjoy.

My First Entry

This is my new fish.  Why am I posting this?  Because it’s my first entry and I have nothing better to say right now.

My sister bought this fish for me for my birthday.  It’s a red Betta fish, and it looks pretty good on the table I made.

Today is also my father’s birthday.  Happy Birthday poppa!
